A short drive from Bixby to Tulsa Surgical Arts

Bixby is about six miles from our practice, measured in a straight line. Drive time will depend on your route and traffic, but the distance is modest. Patients from communities across the Tulsa metro — including Bixby, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Jenks, and Sapulpa — visit our surgery center regularly. The proximity matters most during the early recovery window, when follow-up visits are frequent and a shorter commute is genuinely helpful.

Our surgery center is AAAHC-accredited and includes a private overnight guest suite. That accreditation reflects the same standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. For a procedure like breast augmentation, facility quality is not a detail — it is a foundation.

What breast augmentation actually involves

Breast augmentation adds size and shape to the breasts using implants. An implant is a soft shell filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone gel. It sits behind the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle. You and your surgeon choose the size and placement together during your consultation, based on your anatomy, your proportions, and what you want to see in the mirror.

In the operating room, the incision is most commonly placed within the natural fold beneath the breast. A precise pocket is created for the implant. Your surgeon evaluates placement, symmetry, and proportion before closing in layers with dissolvable sutures. The procedure is typically outpatient — you go home the same day with detailed recovery instructions.

One fact we share early: implants do not last a lifetime. Plan on additional surgery at some point in the future. That honesty is part of the consultation, not an afterthought.

The consultation: where the plan takes shape

Every surgical plan begins with a consultation. You meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot do. There is no pressure in this room. The visit exists so you can make an informed decision with complete information.

Sizing is a conversation, not a guess. Your surgeon considers your chest wall width, tissue thickness, and the proportions that will look balanced on your frame. The implant profile, volume, and pocket placement all follow from that assessment. The goal is a shape that fits you — not a number chosen in isolation.

Risks we discuss before you decide

Every surgery carries risks, and we review all of them with you in person. A firm scar shell can form around the implant — called capsular contracture — which can change the shape and cause discomfort. Surgery can address it. An implant can leak or rupture over time, requiring replacement or removal.

Nipple sensation can change. It may increase, decrease, or in some cases not return. Breastfeeding may be affected for some patients. A very rare cancer of the scar tissue around certain implants has been reported. We encourage you to ask about every one of these topics at your visit. Informed patients make better decisions.

Aftercare and follow-up from Bixby

Recovery from breast augmentation is a process, not a single moment. You will have scheduled follow-up visits in the days and weeks after surgery. Living about six miles away means those appointments do not require significant travel, which matters when you are healing and driving may be limited in the first few days.

Our team provides detailed written instructions for every stage of recovery. You will know what to expect, what is normal, and when to call. If you ever experience a symptom that feels like an emergency — difficulty breathing, sudden severe pain, signs of infection — call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room first, then contact our office.

See real results in our patient gallery

Our patient gallery shows real patients photographed the same way before and after breast augmentation. These images give you a realistic sense of what the procedure can accomplish across different body types and implant choices. Individual results vary, and your outcome will depend on your unique anatomy and surgical plan.

We encourage you to review the gallery before your consultation. It helps you articulate what you like and what you want to avoid. That visual vocabulary makes the sizing conversation more productive for both you and your surgeon.
