Cosmetic Surgery in the US for Patients Traveling from Australia

Patients travel to Tulsa Surgical Arts from Australia and from countries around the world. Here is how we approach that responsibility and how a consultation works for international patients.

Why patients from Australia choose a US cosmetic surgery practice

Choosing to travel abroad for surgery is a serious decision. International patients often seek a practice that combines high surgical volume, facility accreditation, and a team experienced in complex and revision work. Those are reasonable criteria. They are also the criteria we hold ourselves to every day at Tulsa Surgical Arts.

Our practice is led by Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. The practice focus spans rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. Our team of six cosmetic surgeons operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they live nearby or travel from Australia.

The consultation: where your surgical plan begins

Every surgical journey starts with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. There is no substitute for this conversation. It is where trust is built and where a realistic plan takes shape.

For patients traveling from Australia, our consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip. The goal is a thorough, unhurried evaluation. Your surgeon needs to understand your anatomy, your medical history, and your expectations before any procedure is scheduled.

If you are exploring the idea of surgery and want to start the conversation before traveling, call or text our team at 918-392-7900. We can discuss your goals and help you understand whether an in-person consultation is the right next step.

Our facility and what to expect on surgery day

Tulsa Surgical Arts operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center. AAAHC accreditation is the same standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. It reflects a commitment to patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement that is reviewed on a recurring basis.

The facility includes a private overnight guest suite. For patients who have traveled a significant distance, this suite allows you to recover under proximity to the surgical team during your first night. Your driver checks in with you, stays reachable by phone for the entire day, and receives your discharge instructions in person. After anesthesia, a responsible adult must stay with you for the first 24 hours.

Our address is 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. Free on-site parking is available, and surgery-day drop-off and pick-up happen directly at the entrance.

The surgeon and the practice

Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts. He holds both MD and DDS degrees, completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he served as Chief Resident, and then completed a general cosmetic surgery fellowship. He has performed over 18,000 procedures.

He was recognized as SRC Master Surgeon in Specialized Cosmetic Surgery for both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities in 2021. He received the Physician Surgical Innovator of the Year award at THE Aesthetic Show in 2018. He serves as a textbook editor and fellowship director, and he co-chaired the Body Procedures Cadaver Workshop at the AACS in 2026.

The common thread among patients who travel to our practice is straightforward: each patient decided that the surgeon and the facility mattered more than proximity. We take that trust seriously, and we work to earn it at every step.

Planning your visit from Australia

Patients traveling from Australia should plan for adequate time in Tulsa for both the consultation phase and the recovery period your surgeon recommends. The length of stay depends entirely on the procedure. Your surgical team will outline a specific recovery timeline during your consultation so you can plan accordingly.

Bring a photo ID, your completed paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and glasses with a case if you wear contacts. On surgery day, wear loose front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. Leave jewelry and valuables at your accommodation. When any instruction from our team differs from general guidance, their instructions win.

If you experience any emergency symptoms at any point before, during, or after your visit, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Your safety is always the first priority.
