Why patients from Canada choose a US cosmetic surgery practice
Choosing to travel for surgery is a serious decision. Patients from Canada who contact our practice often share a common set of priorities: high surgical volume, facility accreditation, and a team experienced in complex and revision work. Those are reasonable criteria. They are also the criteria we hold ourselves to every day.
Tulsa Surgical Arts is an AAAHC-accredited surgery center — the same accreditation standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. Our team of six cosmetic surgeons is led by Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. The practice focus spans rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring.
Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they are local or international.
The consultation: where your surgical plan begins
Every surgical plan starts with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. There is no substitute for this conversation. It is where trust is built and expectations are set clearly.
For patients traveling from Canada, our consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip. The consultation may be scheduled alongside any necessary imaging or pre-operative work. We want the process to feel organized and unhurried, not rushed by logistics.
If you have had previous surgery elsewhere and are seeking revision work, bring all available operative reports and imaging. The more information your surgeon has at the outset, the more precise the plan.
Our facility and your stay in Tulsa
Tulsa Surgical Arts is located at 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. The surgery center offers free on-site parking and a private overnight guest suite designed for patients who do not live locally. Ask the consult team about the guest suite when you schedule.
After anesthesia, a responsible adult must drive you from the facility and stay with you for the first 24 hours. This is a firm safety requirement. Our team will review discharge instructions with both you and your companion in person before you leave.
Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can reach us by phone or text at 918-392-7900.
What to expect on surgery day
You arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team — it is set for your specific case, not a general clinic opening. Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. Bring photo ID, your paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and glasses with a case. Leave jewelry and valuables at your accommodation.
Pre-operative preparation includes a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. After your procedure, you wake in recovery under one-to-one observation. You then discharge to your driver or to the guest suite upstairs when that is the plan.
Follow-up care and communication after you return home
Post-operative follow-up is part of every surgical plan. For international patients, we discuss the follow-up schedule during your consultation so you can plan accordingly. Some check-ins can be managed remotely; others require an in-person visit. Your surgeon will be direct about which is which.
When any instruction from our team differs from general guidance you read elsewhere — including on this page — the direct instructions from your surgical team always take priority. If you experience a surgical emergency at any time, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department first, then contact our office.
A note on choosing your surgeon
Dr. Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts with a focus on precision and safety. He has performed over 18,000 procedures and holds the SRC Master Surgeon designation in both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities. He was recognized as Physician Surgical Innovator of the Year at THE Aesthetic Show in 2018.
His training path — a physiology degree from Oklahoma State University, a dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry, a medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, and a chief residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery — reflects a dual-degree foundation in both hard and soft tissue. That background informs every procedure the practice performs.
We encourage patients from Canada to review our patient gallery, read about the specific procedure they are considering, and then schedule a consultation. A consult is a conversation, not a commitment. It is the right place to start.
