Cosmetic Surgery in the US for Patients Traveling from Mexico

Patients travel to our Tulsa practice from Mexico and from countries around the world. Here is how we approach that responsibility and what the process looks like from first contact through recovery.

Why patients traveling from Mexico choose a US cosmetic surgery practice

Choosing to travel for surgery is a serious decision. Patients traveling from Mexico often seek a practice that combines high surgical volume, facility accreditation, and a team experienced in complex and revision work. Those are reasonable criteria. They are also the criteria we hold ourselves to every day.

Tulsa Surgical Arts is an AAAHC-accredited surgery center. Our team of six cosmetic surgeons is led by Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. The practice focus spans rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring.

Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they live nearby or travel from Mexico.

The consultation: where your surgical plan begins

Every surgical plan starts with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. There is no substitute for this conversation.

For patients traveling from Mexico, our consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip. The consultation is thorough. We review medical history, examine the areas of concern, discuss surgical options, and outline realistic expectations. You leave with a clear understanding of the plan, the recovery timeline, and next steps.

We communicate by phone, text, and email before and after your visit. Language should never be a barrier to understanding your own care. If you have questions at any point, our team is reachable at 918-392-7900.

Our facility and your recovery

Surgery takes place in our AAAHC-accredited surgery center at 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. AAAHC accreditation is the same standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. Free on-site parking is available, and your driver can pull directly to the entrance for surgery-day drop-off and pick-up.

After anesthesia, a responsible adult must drive you home and stay with you for the first twenty-four hours. For patients who have traveled, our private overnight guest suite exists for exactly this purpose. Ask the consult team about it when you schedule.

Our hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Post-operative follow-up appointments are scheduled before you leave, so you can plan your stay accordingly.

What to expect on surgery day

You arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team. It is set for your specific case, not a general clinic opening. Bring photo ID, your paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and glasses with a case. Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. Leave jewelry and valuables behind.

After check-in and pre-operative preparation, you have a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. You wake in recovery under one-to-one observation, then discharge to your driver or upstairs to a guest suite when that is the plan.

When any instruction from your surgical team differs from general guidance, their instructions win. That principle holds before, during, and after surgery. Your surgeon and care team know your case. They are your primary source of truth.

The practice behind the plan

Dr. Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts with a specific philosophy: prioritize safety, preserve what makes each patient uniquely themselves, and create natural-looking results with meticulous attention to every detail. He has performed over 18,000 procedures and holds the SRC Master Surgeon designation in both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities.

Our approach to international patients is the same approach we bring to every patient. We do not adjust our standard of care based on geography. We adjust our logistics so that the standard of care is fully accessible to you, wherever you are traveling from.

If you are considering cosmetic surgery and traveling from Mexico, we welcome the conversation. A consultation is the right first step. You can call us at 918-392-7900, text us, or book online. We will walk through your goals, your anatomy, and what is realistically achievable. Consult a qualified surgeon before making any surgical decision.
