Why patients from the Philippines choose a US cosmetic surgery practice

Choosing to travel abroad for surgery is a serious decision. International patients often seek a practice that combines high surgical volume, facility accreditation, and a team experienced in complex and revision work. Those are reasonable criteria. They are also the criteria we hold ourselves to every day at Tulsa Surgical Arts.

Our practice is led by Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. The practice operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our team of six cosmetic surgeons focuses on rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring.

Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they travel from across town or from the Philippines.

The consultation: where your surgical plan begins

Every surgical journey starts with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. There is no substitute for this conversation. It is where trust is built and expectations are set clearly.

For patients traveling from the Philippines, the consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip. The goal is a thorough, unhurried evaluation. Your surgeon needs to see you, examine the relevant anatomy, and walk through the plan in person. That directness protects you.

If you are considering a consultation, the first step is straightforward. Call 918-392-7900, text us, or book online. Our team will guide you through the process from there.

Our facility and your safety

Tulsa Surgical Arts operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center. AAAHC accreditation is the same standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. It reflects a commitment to patient safety protocols, equipment standards, and ongoing quality review.

The facility includes a private overnight guest suite. For patients who have traveled a significant distance, this suite allows you to recover on-site under close observation during the critical first hours after surgery. A responsible adult must stay with you for the first twenty-four hours after anesthesia — that rule applies to every patient, local or international.

Our address is 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. Free on-site parking is available, and the entrance accommodates surgery-day drop-off and pick-up directly.

What to expect on surgery day and during recovery

You arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team. That time is set for your specific case. You check in, complete pre-operative preparation, and have a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. After your procedure, you wake in recovery under one-to-one observation.

After anesthesia you may not drive, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. A responsible adult drives you from the facility and stays with you for the first twenty-four hours. For international patients, the overnight guest suite exists for exactly this purpose. Ask the consult team when you schedule.

Post-operative follow-up is part of every surgical plan. Your surgeon will discuss the follow-up timeline during your consultation so you can plan accordingly. Recovery timelines depend on the procedure performed, your health, and your body's healing response. Results vary from patient to patient.
