Why patients travel internationally for cosmetic surgery

Choosing to travel abroad for surgery is a serious decision. International patients often seek a practice that combines high surgical volume, facility accreditation, and a team experienced in complex and revision work. Those are reasonable criteria. They are also the criteria we hold ourselves to every day.

Tulsa Surgical Arts is an AAAHC-accredited surgery center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our team of six cosmetic surgeons is led by Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. The practice focus spans rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring.

Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they travel from across Oklahoma or from Vietnam.

How a consultation begins for patients from Vietnam

Every surgical plan starts with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. We believe that conversation is the foundation of a good outcome.

For patients traveling from Vietnam, our consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip. Some patients choose a virtual consultation first to discuss goals and review photographs before committing to travel. When you are ready to move forward, the team helps you plan an in-person visit that aligns with your surgical timeline.

We encourage you to contact us early. The more lead time we have, the more carefully we can structure your consultation, any necessary imaging or lab work, and your surgical schedule.

Our facility and your safety

Tulsa Surgical Arts operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center. AAAHC accreditation is the same standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. It requires documented protocols for patient safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness.

Our facility includes a private overnight guest suite. This exists for patients who are traveling and need a monitored place to rest after surgery. After anesthesia, a responsible adult must stay with you for the first twenty-four hours. The guest suite is designed with exactly that need in mind. Ask the consult team about it when you schedule.

Dr. Cuzalina has performed over 18,000 procedures. He holds the SRC Master Surgeon designation in Specialized Cosmetic Surgery for both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities. That volume and recognition reflect a daily commitment to precision and safety.

Planning your surgical trip to Tulsa

Tulsa Surgical Arts is located at 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. The practice is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free on-site parking is available, and surgery-day drop-off and pick-up happen directly at the entrance.

On surgery day, you arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team. You check in, complete pre-operative preparation, and have a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. After your procedure, you wake in recovery under one-to-one observation, then discharge to your driver or to the guest suite when that is the plan.

Your follow-up schedule depends on the procedures performed. The surgical team will outline a clear recovery timeline so you can plan your stay in Tulsa accordingly. When any instruction differs from what your surgical team tells you directly, their instructions win.
