Traveling to Tulsa for Cosmetic Surgery: A Plan for Atlanta Patients

Atlanta is about 668 miles from our practice — a flight or a long drive. Here is how patients traveling from Atlanta plan their surgical experience at Tulsa Surgical Arts.

By the surgical team of Tulsa Surgical Arts ·

Why patients travel for the right surgeon

Choosing a cosmetic surgeon is a deeply personal decision. Some patients find the right fit close to home. Others decide that a specific surgeon's focus, training, or volume of experience warrants a trip. We see patients from communities across Oklahoma and well beyond state lines, including Atlanta.

Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts with a focus on rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. He is a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. Our practice operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center — the same accreditation standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide.

Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they travel five miles or six hundred.

Starting the conversation: your consultation

Every surgical plan begins with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. For patients traveling from Atlanta, our consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip.

A consultation is not a commitment. It is a conversation. You leave with a clear understanding of the procedure, the recovery timeline, and what to expect. That information helps you decide whether the surgeon and the plan are right for you. We encourage patients to take whatever time they need before scheduling.

Planning your trip from Atlanta

Atlanta is about 668 miles from our practice, measured in a straight line. Drive time and flight options will vary, so we recommend checking current routes and schedules as your date approaches. Many out-of-town patients choose to fly and arrange local transportation once they arrive in Tulsa.

Our surgery center is located at 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. Free on-site parking is available, and surgery-day drop-off and pick-up happen directly at the entrance. The practice is open Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

For patients who need to stay overnight after surgery, our facility includes a private overnight guest suite. Ask the consult team about this option when you schedule. It exists for exactly this situation — patients who have traveled and need a safe, monitored place to begin recovery.

Surgery day and your recovery plan

You arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team. After check-in and pre-operative preparation, you have a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. You wake in recovery under one-to-one observation, then discharge to your driver or upstairs to the guest suite when that is the plan.

After anesthesia, you may not drive yourself, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. A responsible adult drives you and stays with you for the first 24 hours. This rule applies to every patient, local or traveling. Your driver checks in with you, stays reachable by phone for the entire day, and receives your discharge instructions in person.

Follow-up appointments are part of every surgical plan. The consult team will discuss the post-operative schedule during your consultation so you can plan your stay in Tulsa or arrange return visits as needed. If you experience any emergency symptoms at any point, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

What to bring and how to prepare

Bring photo ID, your paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, glasses and a case (no contact lenses), and your phone and charger. Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. Do not wear makeup, lotion, deodorant, or fragrance on surgery day.

Leave jewelry, piercings, valuables, and anything you would mind losing at home or at your hotel. If you have questions before your trip, call the team at 918-392-7900. Texting is welcome. These small details matter. They help your day go smoothly and let the surgical team focus entirely on your care.
