Traveling to Tulsa for Cosmetic Surgery: How Out-of-Town Patients Plan It
Patients travel to Tulsa Surgical Arts from across Oklahoma, the surrounding region, and cities nationwide. Here is how out-of-town patients typically plan their surgical experience with our practice.

Why patients travel for the right surgeon
Choosing a cosmetic surgeon is a deeply personal decision. Some patients find the right fit close to home. Others decide that a specific surgeon's focus, training, or volume of experience warrants a trip. We see patients from communities across the Tulsa metro — Broken Arrow, Owasso, Jenks, Bixby, Sapulpa — as well as from cities throughout Oklahoma and well beyond state lines.
Our practice draws patients from regional cities such as Dallas, Kansas City, Little Rock, Wichita, Fayetteville, and Springfield, and from national markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, and Atlanta. The common thread is straightforward: each patient decided that the surgeon and the facility mattered more than proximity.
Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts with a focus on rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. The practice operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center — the same accreditation standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide.
Starting the conversation: your consultation
Every surgical plan begins with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. For out-of-town patients, the consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip to Tulsa.
We recommend bringing photo ID, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and any completed patient forms. The forms are available as printable PDFs on our Patient Resource Center so you can fill them out before you arrive. If you have questions ahead of your visit, the team is reachable by phone at 918-392-7900 or by text.
Planning surgery day and your recovery stay
On the day of surgery, you arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team — set specifically for your case. Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. Leave jewelry and valuables at home. No makeup, lotion, deodorant, or fragrance. Bring glasses and a case if you wear contacts, plus your phone and charger.
After anesthesia, you may not drive yourself, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. A responsible adult must drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours. Your driver checks in with you on surgery day, remains reachable by phone, and receives your discharge instructions in person.
For patients who have traveled in, our facility includes a private overnight guest suite designed for exactly this situation. Ask the consult team about the guest suite when you schedule your procedure. Free on-site parking is available, and the entrance allows direct drop-off and pick-up on surgery day.
Follow-up and staying connected after you return home
Post-operative follow-up is an essential part of any surgical plan. When you consult with your surgeon, discuss the follow-up schedule so you can plan travel accordingly. Some visits may be consolidated to reduce the number of trips, depending on the procedure and your surgeon's recommendations.
Our Patient Resource Center page covers the full arc of your surgery — how to get here, who drives you home, what to bring, how to prepare, and what to watch for while you heal. One important rule: when any instruction on that page differs from what your surgical team tells you directly, their instructions win. The practice is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
What makes the trip worth it
Dr. Cuzalina has performed over 18,000 procedures. He served as president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in 2011–2012 and as president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in 2013. He holds the SRC Master Surgeon designation in both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities. He is also a fellowship director and textbook editor whose career has been dedicated to training the next generation of cosmetic surgeons.
Our practice philosophy is straightforward: prioritize safety, preserve what makes each patient uniquely themselves, and deliver natural-looking results with meticulous attention to detail. For many traveling patients, that philosophy — and the depth of surgical experience behind it — is what makes the trip worthwhile. We encourage you to consult a qualified surgeon to determine whether a procedure is right for you.
