Traveling to Tulsa for Surgery: A Plan for Minneapolis Patients
Minneapolis is about 632 miles from our practice — a flight or a long drive. Here is how patients from your community plan a surgical experience at Tulsa Surgical Arts.

Why patients travel for the right surgeon
Choosing a cosmetic surgeon is a deeply personal decision. Some patients find the right fit close to home. Others decide that a specific surgeon's focus, training, or volume of experience warrants a trip. We see patients from communities across Oklahoma, from regional cities such as Dallas, Kansas City, and Wichita, and from national markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and beyond. The common thread is straightforward: each patient decided that the surgeon and the facility mattered more than proximity.
Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts with a focus on rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. He has performed over 18,000 procedures, served as president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (2011–2012) and president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (2013), and holds the SRC Master Surgeon designation in both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities. Our team of six cosmetic surgeons operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center in Tulsa.
That teaching culture — our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here — means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they travel five miles or six hundred.
Starting the conversation from Minneapolis
Every surgical plan begins with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. For patients traveling from Minneapolis, the consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip. Call 918-392-7900 or text us to begin that conversation.
Minneapolis is about 632 miles from our practice, measured in a straight line. That distance is manageable by flight or by a long drive. Many out-of-town patients schedule their consultation and their procedure on separate visits. Others consolidate when the surgical timeline allows. Your coordinator will walk you through the options that fit your specific case.
The facility and your surgery day
Tulsa Surgical Arts is located at 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. The surgery center is AAAHC-accredited — the same accreditation standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide. Free on-site parking is available, and your driver can pull directly to the entrance for surgery-day drop-off and pick-up. Hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
After anesthesia you may not drive yourself home, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. A responsible adult drives you and stays with you for the first 24 hours. For traveling patients, our private overnight guest suite exists for exactly this purpose — ask the consult team when you schedule.
On surgery day, bring photo ID, your paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and glasses with a case. Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes. Leave jewelry and valuables at home. No makeup, lotion, deodorant, or fragrance on surgery day.
Recovery away from home
Recovery timelines depend on the procedure. Your surgeon will outline a specific post-operative plan, including when follow-up visits are needed and when it is safe to travel home. Some patients stay in Tulsa for several days after surgery; others return for a follow-up appointment at a later date. The consult team helps you map this out before you commit to a date.
When any instruction on our patient resource pages differs from what your surgical team tells you directly, their instructions win. If you experience any emergency symptoms at any point — difficulty breathing, chest pain, signs of a serious reaction — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Your safety is the first priority, always.
What Minneapolis patients should know before deciding
Traveling for surgery adds logistics, but it does not change the fundamentals. The right surgeon, the right facility, and an honest conversation about your goals matter more than geography. We encourage you to research thoroughly, review before-and-after results in our patient gallery, and consult a qualified surgeon — whether that surgeon is here or closer to home.
If Tulsa Surgical Arts feels like the right fit, we are ready to help you plan every step. Call 918-392-7900, text us, or book a consultation online. We will take it from there.
