Traveling to Tulsa for Surgery: A Plan for Raleigh, NC Patients

Raleigh, NC is about 964 miles from our practice — a flight or a long drive. Patients make that trip because the right surgeon and the right facility matter more than proximity.

Why Raleigh patients travel to Tulsa for cosmetic surgery

Choosing a cosmetic surgeon is a deeply personal decision. Some patients find the right fit close to home. Others decide that a specific surgeon's focus, training, or volume of experience warrants traveling. We see patients from cities throughout Oklahoma and well beyond state lines — from regional hubs like Dallas and Kansas City to national markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta.

The common thread is straightforward. Each patient decided that the surgeon and the facility mattered more than proximity. Raleigh patients who reach out to us typically share that same reasoning. They have researched a specific procedure, studied before-and-after results, and concluded that our practice aligns with what they need.

Dr. Angelo Cuzalina founded Tulsa Surgical Arts with a focus on rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. The practice operates from an AAAHC-accredited surgery center — the same accreditation standard used by many ambulatory surgical facilities nationwide.

About the practice and our surgical team

Tulsa Surgical Arts is home to a team of six cosmetic surgeons. Dr. Cuzalina is a past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a past president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He holds both MD and DDS degrees, completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency, and trained in a general cosmetic surgery fellowship. He has performed over 18,000 procedures.

Our nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship trains the next generation of surgeons here. That teaching culture means every technique is examined, refined, and held to evidence. It shapes the care every patient receives, whether they drive five miles or fly nearly a thousand.

The practice's AAAHC-accredited surgery center includes a private overnight guest suite — a detail that matters when you are traveling for surgery and need a monitored place to rest before heading home.

Starting the conversation: your consultation

Every surgical plan begins with a consultation. During this visit you meet your surgeon, discuss your goals, review your anatomy, and receive a candid assessment of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. For out-of-town patients, the consult team can help coordinate timing so you make the most of your trip to Tulsa.

You can reach us by phone at 918-392-7900, by text, or through our online booking. We are open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Patient forms are available as PDFs on our website so you can print, complete, and bring them to your first visit.

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. It gives you the information you need to make a careful, unhurried decision about your care.

Planning your surgery trip from Raleigh

Raleigh is about 964 miles from our practice, measured as a straight line. That means traveling by flight or a long drive. Patients who travel to us typically plan their consultation visit and their surgery visit as separate trips, though the consult team can discuss options that work for your schedule.

On surgery day, a responsible adult must drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours. You may not drive yourself, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied after anesthesia. Our private overnight guest suite exists for exactly this situation — ask the consult team when you schedule.

Our address is 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. Free on-site parking is available, and you can pull directly to the entrance for surgery-day drop-off and pick-up. Bring photo ID, your paperwork, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and loose front-opening clothing with slip-on shoes.

Recovery away from home

Recovering in an unfamiliar city requires a plan. Your surgical team will give you specific post-operative instructions, and when any general guidance differs from what they tell you directly, their instructions win. You will know before surgery day exactly what to watch for while you heal.

Many traveling patients bring a companion who serves as their driver and their support person for the first 24 hours. The guest suite at our surgery center is designed with this in mind. Your follow-up schedule will be discussed during your consultation so you can plan your stay accordingly. For any emergency symptom, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room first — then contact our office.
