Traveling to Tulsa for Surgery: A Plan for Washington, DC Patients
Washington, DC is about 1,052 miles from our practice — a flight or a long drive. Patients make that trip regularly, and we have built a process that makes the distance manageable from first consultation through full recovery.

Why patients travel to Tulsa for cosmetic surgery
Choosing a surgeon is a personal decision, and geography is only one factor. Patients from Washington, DC and other communities across the country seek us out for specific reasons: a surgeon's focus area, a particular technique, or comfort with the team after researching their options. The right fit matters more than the nearest zip code.
Tulsa Surgical Arts is an AAAHC-accredited surgery center led by Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, who has performed over 18,000 procedures. His focus areas include rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, complex revision surgery, and total-body contouring. Dr. Cuzalina served as president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (2011–2012) and president of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (2013). He holds recognition as an SRC Master Surgeon in Specialized Cosmetic Surgery for both Face & Neck and Trunk, Breast & Extremities.
Our practice is home to a nationally recognized cosmetic surgery fellowship, which means the environment here is built around teaching, precision, and staying current. That academic culture shapes every procedure we perform.
Planning your consultation from Washington, DC
The first step is a consultation with your surgeon. We encourage you to call or text us at 918-392-7900, or book online. During that initial conversation, the team will walk you through what to expect, what records or photos may be helpful, and how to prepare. Our hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Before your consultation visit, you can print and complete your patient forms ahead of time. Bring photo ID, a written list of every medication and supplement you take, and any questions you have been collecting. Preparation on your end helps us use your time well, especially when you have traveled to be here.
Surgery day and the overnight guest suite
On surgery day, you arrive at the time confirmed by the surgical team — it is set for your specific case. You will check in, complete pre-operative preparation, and have a final review with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. After your procedure, you wake in recovery under one-to-one observation.
A firm rule applies after anesthesia: you may not drive yourself, take a rideshare alone, or leave unaccompanied. A responsible adult must drive you and stay with you for the first 24 hours. For patients traveling in from Washington, DC or elsewhere, our private overnight guest suite exists for exactly this purpose. Ask the consult team about it when you schedule.
Our facility is located at 7322 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74133, with free on-site parking and a direct entrance for surgery-day drop-off and pick-up.
Recovery away from home
Recovery timelines depend on the procedure. Your surgical team will give you specific instructions for wound care, activity restrictions, medications, and follow-up appointments. When any general guidance differs from what your surgical team tells you directly, their instructions win.
Wear loose, front-opening clothing and slip-on shoes on surgery day. Leave jewelry, piercings, and valuables at home. No makeup, lotion, deodorant, or fragrance. Bring your phone and charger, glasses and a case — no contact lenses. These small details reduce friction on a day that matters.
Planning your return trip around your follow-up schedule is important. The consult team can help you map out a realistic timeline so you know what to expect before you book any travel. If questions come up at any point, call or text 918-392-7900.
