How it works

What happens in the operating room.

  1. General anesthesia is administered by a board-certified anesthesia provider — you are fully asleep.
  2. A small incision is made in the columella (the skin between the nostrils) and just inside the nostrils, allowing the skin to be lifted off the underlying cartilage and bone.
  3. The bone and cartilage are then refined — judicious removal and repositioning with sutures — to achieve a balanced, refined, natural nasal shape. Grafts are often placed for support and contour.
  4. Functional issues such as a deviated septum or turbinate hypertrophy are remedied.
  5. The nasal skin is laid back into place and the incisions are closed with fine suture.
  6. Internal splints are placed, followed by external tape and a splint.
  7. Surgery usually takes 2–3 hours. Most patients return home the same day with an adult to help.

Written by the surgeons who do it

This walkthrough is the operation as Tulsa Surgical Arts actually performs it — authored by the practice’s rhinoplasty surgeons, not a content farm. Every step is discussed with you at consultation, and your written plan is set before surgery is ever scheduled.

Why here, for this

The surgeon who wrote the chapter — and the surgeon writing the next one.

The textbook record

Dr. Cuzalina co-wrote “Revision Rhinoplasty” (2012), “Rhinoplasty for the Cleft Lip and Palate Patient” (2016), “Challenging Rhinoplasty for the Cleft Lip and Palate Patient” (2021) and guest-edited Elsevier’s Rhinoplasty: Current Therapy. Rhinoplasty is central to the fellowship curriculum he directs.

The expertise

Dr. Cuzalina has been performing, teaching, and authoring chapters about rhinoplasty for nearly three decades. Dr. Nelson is otolaryngology-trained, blending functional nasal surgery with modern cosmetic techniques — including piezo ultrasonic rhinoplasty.

The philosophy

Naturally balanced, not a template. The objective is a nose that looks natural — refined to fit the already-beautiful you — with proportion, projection, and function considered together.

The aftercare

Splint for one week. Most are comfortable in public at 7–10 days. Swelling resolves in stages — the refined tip can take months to reveal its final shape and definition. Most resume normal activities at two weeks while avoiding any risk of trauma to the nose.

Cost, answered

What rhinoplasty actually costs.

Rhinoplasty pricing is personal — it moves with the complexity of your anatomy, whether the case is primary or revision, and what your plan combines. Your consultation ends with one written, all-in number.

Financing available — PatientFi · CareCredit · Cherry, with monthly framing beside every figure.

Questions

Asked at nearly every consult.

Will it look “done”?
The goal is the opposite — a nose in proportion. The gallery above is the argument: drag the lines and judge whether the results announce themselves.
How long is recovery, really?
Splint for about a week. Most patients are publicly presentable at 7–10 days, and most can resume normal activities at two weeks — as long as activities that pose a risk of nasal trauma are avoided. Residual tip swelling refines over months — we show you the timeline at consult.
Can breathing be improved at the same time?
If functional issues are present — a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates — these are addressed during the same operation.

Patient voices

In their own words.

“Dr. Cuzalina’s work on my nose is truly flawless. Even this early in the healing process, I can already see his attention to detail and how beautifully everything was done. I’m so excited to continue watching my results develop and see the final outcome!… The entire team has made this experience feel seamless from beginning to end, and I’m so grateful I trusted them with something so important to me. I couldn’t recommend Dr. Cuzalina, Dr. Alvarez, Tonya, and the entire team enough!”

— Christina Harris, rhinoplasty patient, Google review

“Dr. Angelo Cuzalina is a great surgeon and you can tell that he cares very much for what his patients want to accomplish.”

“I scheduled an appointment for a lower eyelid blepharoplasty… It has been 6 weeks and I’m so glad I made the decision to have this done.”
