What is PRP Therapy?

At Tulsa Surgical Arts, Dr. Angelo Cuzalina is pleased to provide platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to help rejuvenate your complexion. PRP therapy is a popular cosmetic procedure because it offers natural and exciting results. The treatment uses a patient's nutrient-rich plasma to stimulate the production of collagen, which softens and smooths the complexion. For more information about PRP therapy, please call Tulsa Surgical Arts in Tulsa, OK to schedule a consultation. Dr. Cuzalina is excited to discuss the benefits of PRP and how it can help you.

Is PRP Right For You?

Patients who want to improve their skin texture and tone are great candidates for PRP therapy. To undergo this procedure, you must be at least 18 years old. Because it stimulates the production of collagen, PRP therapy helps rejuvenate a dull-looking complexion. During your consultation, please let Dr. Cuzalina know if you have certain skin or medical conditions, anemia, or blood disorders. This will help him determine if PRP therapy is safe for you. If so, he can develop a unique treatment plan that meets your cosmetic goals.

Our Platelet-Rich Plasma Technique

Patients will sit on a comfortable treatment chair as we draw a small amount of blood from the arm. Usually, we draw about four tablespoons or one vial worth of blood. Next, we put the vial into a centrifuge machine. After approximately 15 minutes in the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate, and we place the plasma in thin needles. The plasma is then injected into the treatment areas. Normally, the PRP process takes around five minutes to complete, but it varies for each patient.

What to Expect

To create tighter and younger-looking skin, platelet-rich plasma treatments stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Because PRP uses your blood, the risk of allergic reaction is practically nonexistent. After the procedure, your face will appear slightly red because some of the red blood cells are included in the injection. If you experience discomfort or swelling, a cold pack helps reduce these symptoms. To maintain your results, Dr. Cuzalina recommends follow-up treatments every 4 – 6 weeks.

Glowing Skin

After undergoing PRP therapy, your complexion will look healthier and brighter. This procedure is perfect for patients who prefer a natural skin rejuvenation treatment that creates gorgeous results.
