What Are Jawline Implants?

In most cultures across the world, a strong jawline is seen as a beautiful part of the face. When a person gets older, gains weight, or suffers from an injury, the jawline can start to lose definition. To create a stronger-looking jawline, jaw implants can improve the shape of the lower, outer part of the jaw. Depending on your cosmetic goals, we can make the jaw look more feminine or masculine. If you would like to learn more, we encourage you to schedule an appointment at Tulsa Surgical Arts in Tulsa, OK with Dr. Angelo Cuzalina.

Are Jawline Implants For You?

Jawline implants can help patients with a variety of cosmetic issues, including:

  • A jawline looks wide or undefined because of aging, weight loss, or weight gain
  • Overbites, open bites, or other types of bites that impact the appearance of the face
  • Asymmetry due to an injury or a congenital defect

As a safe treatment option, jawline implants help patients attain a stronger jawline or improve their oral health. With years of experience, Dr. Cuzalina is a triple board-certified cosmetic surgeon who specializes in facial and oral and maxillofacial surgery. After listening to your cosmetic goals, he will design a treatment plan that works best for your needs.

I had my breast Aug by Dr. C. The staff was amazing from front desk to nurses! Everyone is so pleasant. My surgery results were fantastic! I get so many compliments (mostly from my husband, on a daily basis)! Jess S and Lindsey are amazing for all your non-surgical needs! Brandy is the absolute best at everything she does!

I’ve had two separate surgeries at Tulsa Surgical Arts and go there for all my non-surgical cosmetic needs. Every experience has always been phenomenal. Every single member of staff I’ve encountered are the nicest, most comforting people. The whole office is professional and makes you feel so comfortable in what can be an embarrassing or insecure time. Dr. C and Dr. T are the best. Jess S. And Lindsey too. If you go anywhere else-you’re not only dumb, but you’ll regret it.

How Are Jawline Implants Placed?

In one of our private, accredited AAAHC operating rooms, Dr. Cuzalina will start by administering anesthesia or an IV sedative. Once you have completely relaxed, Dr. Cuzalina creates small incisions inside the mouth and inserts the implants through the incisions. When the implants are against the bone, we place small screws to secure the implants. He will close the incisions with dissolvable sutures and use bandages to control bleeding or discharge. Typically, the surgery takes about 1 – 2 hours to complete. You should see noticeable results after the surgery, which will get better as your body starts to heal.

About Us

What to Expect After Jawline Implant Surgery

Following your procedure, you will experience some swelling and bruising. These symptoms will subside in about 1 – 2 days. You will also have some tightness near the treatment area, which will start to feel more normal as you get used to the implant. For 2 – 10 days, you should avoid food items that require you to chew because this could interfere with your healing. We will provide detailed aftercare instructions that outline how to care for your incisions and reduce discomfort. In addition to caring for your incisions, you should avoid strenuous exercise, and you will need to sleep upright for a few days.

Does getting jawline implants hurt?

No, most patients do not find jawline implant surgery painful. Dr. Cuzalina provides multiple anesthesia and IV sedation options to ensure you are comfortable throughout your procedure. During recovery, it is normal to experience minor soreness, discomfort, and swelling for a few days to a week. This can be controlled with ice packs and over-the-counter or prescribed pain relievers.

How long do jawline implants last?

It depends on a number of factors, but in general, most patients can expect their results to be very long-lasting to permanent. During your consultation, Dr. Cuzalina will go over the various treatment options and what you can expect from each one.

How long is recovery after jawline implant surgery?

It will vary depending on your procedure, but most can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort that usually subsides in a few days. For a week or two, you'll need to eat a diet of soft and liquid foods so you can avoid chewing. You will also need to sleep upright for the first few days as you begin the healing process.

What materials are jawline implants made from?

Jawline implants are typically made from biocompatible materials such as silicone or polyethylene. These materials are safe for the body and designed to provide a natural look and feel.

How do I choose the right size and shape of jawline implants for my face?

Dr. Cuzalina will assess your facial structure and aesthetic goals to recommend the best size and shape of jawline implants. He may use computer imaging and other tools to ensure the implants enhance your natural features.

Will I have noticeable scars after jawline implant surgery?

Scars from jawline implant surgery are usually minimal and well-hidden. The incisions are typically made inside the mouth or under the chin, making them less visible. Proper post-surgery care also helps reduce scarring.
